Our amigos from Uruguay continue their efforts to develop roller hockey in this South American country.
After the idea of creating a radio to talk about roller hockey and transmit roller hockey matches in Argentina (radiopatinando) and Chile (radioarodar), at this time in Uruguay was created the first Roller Hockey Radio Program, Zona Hockey Patin, broadcasted at FM SEÑALES 88.9 (in Castellano) on Wednesday from 9pm-10pm..

On each program will be possible to listen about the national actuality of Uruguayan roller hockey, and some information about International roller hockey. It's important to remember, that this here Uruguay will host the B Men's World Cup, in Penarol.

Rolling Together wishes to continue listening this program during a lot of years, because will be connected for sure with the growing of this sport in this country.

2012 B World Cup change Data and Place

Logo of the Championship
As reported on 15th FIRS B World Cup held by Uruguay post (3rd October 2011) Uruguay will host the B World Cup this year.
Although the host city was supposed to be Montevideo, due to some reparations in the stadium, the host city was moved to Canelones,  being Gimnasio Municipal Sergio Matto the place to play the Championship (wood floor). Also the initial date, 20th to 27th October was changed, and the Championship will be held from 24th November to 1st December (According to Uruguayan source info).
Our sport is played at this city by one of the most important roller hockey clubs of Uruguay Pinamar Hockey.

Until now there are just a few informations about the organization of this important championship, where everybody wants to see again a lot of usual countries playing it and if possible new countries not used on it.
To note that is expected the presence of a "False Mexican team" supported by the "official" Mexican Federation, FEMEPAR.This false team will be composed by in-line hockey players, as happened in 2012 Women's World Cup in Alcobendas, with the support of FIRS. This is part of the strategy of this federation to not loose the place at FIRS to represent our sport, but all roller hockey fans know their real goal, kill our sport in Mexico. Although we hope one day there will be justice and the "Unofficial Federation", AHPM will have the opportunity to represent our sport national and internationally.

Future in Risk on South African Roller Hockey

SARHF Logo (source: SARHF website)
From 30th March till 5th April, was disputed the National Championship of South Africa in Indoor Arena “Comendador António Braz” (host club ACPP), in Pretoria. Once again the Men's senior Champion were Northerns. This competition is disputed by national teams, from some provinces of South Africa.

In other ages and genre the winners were:
Ladies: Central
Juniors: Central
Juveniles: Central
Infants: Vaal

There were teams from the provinces of:
-Northern Gauteng (Pretoria)
-Vaal de (Vanderbijlpark)
-Central Gauteng (Johannesburg)
-Central Youth (Johannesburg)
-Eastern Gauteng (Johannesburg)

On Thursday 5th April, were the final matches with the next scores

Infants: Vaal Dolphins 10-0 Vaal Ducks
Juveniles: Central 8-2 Vaal
Juniors: Central 4-1 Vaal
Ladies: Central Ladies 4-1 Vaal

Seniors: Northerns 5-2 Vaal
Northerns goals (Pretoria): 3 by Cláudio Araújo, 2 by Ricardo de Sousa
Vaal goals (Vanderbijlpark): Ricardo Guerra, Michael Guerra

The final balance of this competition, one year after the first participation of a South African National team in A World Cup, is not perfect. On the positive side is the fair play, commitment, drive and determination of all teams.
Unfortunatelly there's a big negative point during all the championship, the lack of assistance.
Probably roller hockey fans doesn't know but this sport it's possible to play in South Africa due to Portuguese community living there, which brought the sport on 60's, last century.
Like in Portugal, until last decade one of the most important aspects of rolleer hockey was the passion that people had for this sport, filling each pavilion where the sport was played.
The situation is changing since the begging of this millennium, and now it's possible to see some pavilion without spectators. Although the presence of some familiars, this was the biggest negative point during this Championship,
According to "O Seculo" if this situation doesn't change, roller hockey will die in South Africa, even with kids and youngs playing it.

The egoisms and oportunisms of the actual society is killing activities that in other times were unifying people. The newspaper writes that it's time to change the way of acting and give a better future for this sport, so caracteristic of Portuguese community in South Africa.

It's important to revel the main sponsor of this National Championship, Dallmeier, represent by Paulo Alexandre and Mário Ferreira (president of ACPP) brothers. This enterprise was also the main sponsor of South African national team on last A World Cup, diputed in San Juan.
To complete, Joaquim Coimbra, president of SARHA, gave thanks to all participants, ACPP by the space and dinner, and the main responsbles by the Championship the players.

CIRH with new Circulares for 2012

Probably you don't know but the website of CIRH (Roller Hockey International Committee) turns public several documentation about our sport (rules, events, registration, letters...), written by the president Mr. Harro Strucksberg.

The website was updated last days with new information concerning:
  • Circular1-CIA – International Referees – Inscription 2012
  • Circular2-International Calendar-Date change of the "B" World Championship Montevideo 2012  (new 20th-27th Oct.2012)
  • Circular3-International Calendar Circular CIRH2/2012 – Change of dates of the “B” World Championship 2012
  • Circular4-11th Ladies World Championship 2012 – Sertãozinho, Brazil November 10th -17th
  • Circular5-Updated CIRH General Rules
These important documents show some updates about the events to take place this year.

For example on Circular 3 is written:
"Regarding the conflict with  the change of the dates (see letter of Macau and England) of the “B” World Championship that will be held in Montevideo CIRH can’t accept this change and has to search for other alternatives. The reason of the change was the information  received about reparations that have to be done to the Stadium in Montevideo."

On the Circular 4 is written:
"Today I received from Brazil the information  that they must change the venue of the Ladies World Championship from Sertãozinho to  Recife regarding financial  problems. We are unlucky with this situation but the important point is that the Federation can organize the 11th Ladies World Championship on the announced dates.
I know for some federations the change of  venue can be a problem in the case they booked the flights to Riberão Preto.
So, please try to get an agreement with your travel agencies and in the case you have any kind of problem please contact CIRH and the Organizer to try to find a solution."

Should be good if CIRH could improve the quality of it website to give more visibility to our sport.
