Roller Hockey Festival in Colombia

During next weekend Barranquilla, in Colombia, will held a big Roller Hockey Festival. It's expected a participation of 300 kids, and furthermore some matches between veteran players.
In Colombia the roller hockey activity is divided by Leagues (Ligas), and in this festival will be present in a number of 5:

• Antioquia League
• Bogotá League
• Valle del Cauca League
• Boyacá League
• Pasto League.

This kind of Festivals are a good example of roller hockey promotion.

During these days the Colombian Federation is organizing a national camp to select the list of players which will have the opportunity to play in Angola, in September for the Taça Zé Du (read article about this tournament pressing here) and prepare the next World Championship (also host in Angola).

The list of players is composed by 28 players:

1. From Antioquia League: David Saldarriaga (goalkeeper), David Bustamante, José Alejandro Naranjo, Roberth Martínez, Eduardo Prisco, Raúl Raigosa, Sebastián Valencia, Santiago Vásquez, Sergio Andrés Vásquez.
2. From Bogota League: Juan Pablo Salgado, Juan David Vásquez  (both goalkeepers), Carlos Ernesto García, Javier Mora, Carlos Esteban Ospina, Gustavo Ramírez, Fabián Rivas, José Luis Rivas, Alejandro Rodríguez and Nicolás Vásquez
3. From Caldas League: Juan Jacobo García (goalkeeper), David Mauricio Alzate, Cristhian David Castaño, Daniel Hoyos, Jonathan Giraldo, Luis Miguel Martínez y Camilo Ramírez. Los porteros convocados son David Saldarriaga, de Antioquia, los bogotanos , y el caldense Juan Jacobo García. Other Countries: Diego Camilo Salamanca Rey and Luis Gabriel Toro

Technical Staff: Fernando Sierra, Jaime Jaramillo and Andrés López.

If somebody has doubts that roller hockey is the main hockey sport in Colombia this news is a good example of the efforts of roller hockey lovers in Colombia to promote our sport.

Provincial de Luanda started last 17th June

One more Provincial started in Luanda, capital of Angola! In one of the best championships of this Continent once again Angola wants to prove why roller hockey is growing year by year, and is reaching an important position in Angolan sports panorama. During the next weeks this championship will be disputed by a total of 6 teams:

1. Petro de Launda (2011 Championship)
2. Académica de Luanda
3. Juventude de Viana
4. Benfica de Luanda
5. 1º Agosto
6. Kabuscorp do Palanca

There's any news about the disapearence of Hoquei 2000 and ASA club that last years had surprised with excellent results. We hope that this club had not finished. One year befor the A World Cup to be held in Angola (Luanda and probably Namibe city), has an important year to increase it level and promote roller hokey as never before.
Until now were disputed 2 rounds with the following scores:

11st Taça Zé Du

After Provincial, Angola will organize the 11th Taça Zé Du, in honor of Angolan President. It's expected one of the best editions ever, and likewise the last years, will be played by some national teams. Until now it's confirmed the presence of the home team Angola, Mozambique, Chile, Brazil, Colombia and Germany. The competition will be host in Huambo from 23rd to 27th August or from 15th to 19th August (Angolan federation didn't decide yet because of it elections). The last edition was won by a World team against the Portuguese team Candelária Bom Petisco.
The next editions of this International Cup, organized each year in Luanda, will be held like this year out of Luanda. Huíla, Cabinda and Benguela are the possible candidate cities, and this is one more way to expand roller hockey in this country.

Roller Hockey Summer Camps the best Holiday Program to Young Players

The current season in Europe is almost finished. After such an intensive year of competition  and training for young players, now it's time to enjoy holidays. What's the best solution for young roller hockey lovers?? Join Roller Hockey and holidays, and spend a nice time with friends. In almost all European countries where roller hockey it's played, is possible to find some Summer Camps. In this camps it's possible to play roller hockey, and learn with some savvy players/coaches. One of this examples comes from Newcastle, England where will be organized one of the Camps from 9th to 22nd July. In this case the Campus is organized by one of the many Catalan Clubs, PHC Sant Cugat. As the presentation website reports, the two main goals are the practice of roller hockey and the learning of English.
The Campus will be host in Northumbria University, and will be commanded by savvy players from OK Liga and Primera Nacional, Maiol Giralt and Ramon Gascón. Furthermore will be present several players from  Middlesbrough RHC (English Champion in 2010/11)
The Campus is appointed for boys and girls with ages from 12 to 17 years old. For example this activity has a price of 1900€ including the flight tickets, food, residence, english classes, roller hockey training and extra activities.

  
This example is only indicated for Spanish young players, but there are examples of camps indicated for young all over the world.If you have some suggestion send it to rolling together and we will present it

Amazing Atmosphere in Portuguese Roller Hockey

One more season is getting close to finish in most European Championships. After FC Barcelona, Dornbirn RHC, Grimsby, Nofit and HC Dinan Quévert victories in Spanish, Austrian, English, Israeli and French championships, also 1ª Divisão in Portugal it's almost finding it champion. After another amazing and emotional "O Clássico" between the two biggest Portuguese roller hockey clubs, Porto and Benfica, the final result was 5-5. This result is favorable to the home team, Benfica, that can stop Porto's supremacy in Portuguese hockey in last decade. With one more point than Porto, Benfica will try to win Tigres de Almeirim on last journey, and assure it 21st Portuguese title. But the reason of this article has something about Emotion and Atmosphere in roller hockey, as happen in sports like football and basketball. Which amateur sport can have something like the next video??? This was the last Benfica's goal appointed by one of greatest Portuguese players, Sérgio Silva.

  

The celebration after was unique, and is an image about how special is this sport for a lot of people!! Although our sort can't have the same visibility, managers with the same perspicacity, and of course the same money  than the majority of other sports, has something special, some kind of mystique and passion. It is just because of this that roller hockey can't stop!!!
