Today starts the B World Cup in Uruguay

From today and during all week will take place the 15th edition of B World Cup. For the third time, Uruguay hosts this important competition which selects the last 3 countries to play the A World Cup (taking place next year in Angola). Usually is a competition where the uncertainty of countries to compete lasts until the opening ceremony. At this time only 9 countries will dispute the three first places, which ensures the promotion to main World Cup, including:
  1. Austria - 4th place in 2010 edition. Searching hard to be in Angola 2013.
  2. England - relegated from San Juan 2012, it is the home-country of roller hockey, so either goal than promotion is searched.
  3. Egypt - after the revolution in 2011, the news about roller hockey disappear so the fans wait for this World Cup to see how is the sport after so much obstacles.
  4. Israel -  consider as one of the best examples of sustainable growth on our sport, counts with the experience of his Spanish coach which expects to see his team in Angola next year.
  5. Macau - the best of Asia roller hockey is on this team, but the continuous non-support by local Government with better conditions to practice and develop the sport, reduce the targets for the World Cup.
  6. Mexico - the last participation in this competition remounts to 2006, also in Uruguay. Since them a big crisis stop the development of this sport in Mexico. The last news indicates that finally there's light for the future and again almost only roller hockey players will be part of the national team.
  7. Netherlands - also relegated from San Juan World Cup is one of the best teams presented. The sport seems to be gaining a new path for the future with a national championship organized each year and a successful team in German League.
  8. South Africa - the promotion to last A World Cup could mean a better development to roller hockey in such important country, but since them there wasn't big changes.
  9. Uruguay - the host country is increasing the promotion to this sport day by day, and this competition is faced as the right opportunity to be part of the main group of roller hockey.
The opening ceremony will be today at at 7:30 pm (+3 GMT), and the first match will happen next at 9pm between Uruguay and Mexico.

For the first time ever the B World Cup will be totally broadcasted, through the local radio Señales with Spanish comments of our Amigos Carlo Albaneze and Ricardo Infante, so there are no excuses to not see roller hockey next days!!! Also the Antel website will broadcast on WebTV all the matches of Uruguay.

Zona Hockey Patin the new Radio Program in Uruguay

Our amigos from Uruguay continue their efforts to develop roller hockey in this South American country.
After the idea of creating a radio to talk about roller hockey and transmit roller hockey matches in Argentina (radiopatinando) and Chile (radioarodar), at this time in Uruguay was created the first Roller Hockey Radio Program, Zona Hockey Patin, broadcasted at FM SEÑALES 88.9 (in Castellano) on Wednesday from 9pm-10pm..
You can talk to this program calling to +59843764711 or sending a message to +598096511642.

On each program will be possible to listen about the national actuality of Uruguayan roller hockey, and some information about International roller hockey. It's important to remember, that this here Uruguay will host the B Men's World Cup, in Penarol.

Rolling Together wishes to continue listening this program during a lot of years, because will be connected for sure with the growing of this sport in this country.

2012 B World Cup change Data and Place

Logo of the Championship
As reported on 15th FIRS B World Cup held by Uruguay post (3rd October 2011) Uruguay will host the B World Cup this year.
Although the host city was supposed to be Montevideo, due to some reparations in the stadium, the host city was moved to Canelones,  being Gimnasio Municipal Sergio Matto the place to play the Championship (wood floor). Also the initial date, 20th to 27th October was changed, and the Championship will be held from 24th November to 1st December (According to Uruguayan source info).
Our sport is played at this city by one of the most important roller hockey clubs of Uruguay Pinamar Hockey.

Until now there are just a few informations about the organization of this important championship, where everybody wants to see again a lot of usual countries playing it and if possible new countries not used on it.
To note that is expected the presence of a "False Mexican team" supported by the "official" Mexican Federation, FEMEPAR.This false team will be composed by in-line hockey players, as happened in 2012 Women's World Cup in Alcobendas, with the support of FIRS. This is part of the strategy of this federation to not loose the place at FIRS to represent our sport, but all roller hockey fans know their real goal, kill our sport in Mexico. Although we hope one day there will be justice and the "Unofficial Federation", AHPM will have the opportunity to represent our sport national and internationally.

Uruguay Championship Officially Real!!!!

Logo of participating teams

After some years without official championships, Uruguay it's prepared to roll again. Sponsored by National Federation, it will start this weekend, during 16th and 17th July, in Montevideo, Uruguay Capital.
Like in other countries of the world (e.g. Netherlands) the competition will be host by the different teams that will play almost weekly.
Another important aspect is the inclusion of school bases championship, U-9, U-12,U-15, and women's championship.

A total of 7 clubs are registered to play the biggest Uruguayan competition of last years:
Distribution of teams in Uruguay that will play
  • Albatros from Maldonado
  • CESOPE from Montevideo
  • Platense from Montevideo
  • Golden Wings from Maldonado
  • Pioneros from Flores
  • San Lorenzo from San Jose
  • Pinamar from Canelones

The first team to receive the championship will be CESOPE (Centro Social Peñarol) in Montevideo.

The last official Uruguay Champions was Platense, that won in 2008 the Uruguay League (previous Uruguay Championship).

This is a great news to Uruguay Hockey, after so many problems in other years.
All this was possible mostly due to a big effort done by all clubs, that wanted to Roll Together.  Now it's possible to believe that Uruguay has a way to roll and reach a better future.

I hope to receive all results, news, videos... of this Championship that the Roller Hockey Lovers will follow for sure, with enthusiasm.

Future of Uruguayan Hockey lives here

Rolling Together... the better way to play
