This time was Barcelona showing an awesome example, about what can be done to promote our Sport.
During one day, some of the best World roller hockey players went to a Barcelona's shopping center and played roller hockey with some young players.
Such a simple event can gives a lot of visibility to our sport.
It is more than time to Federations, clubs, players, coaches and brands get unified and promote our sport as it deserves.
Competitions like European League Final 4 must be broadcasted in some of the most important World Sport Channels. I'm sure with a good organization we could reach such an important goal.
Also the Angolan World Cup should have this opportunity. For example the 2009 World Cup held in Vigo and Pontevedra was broadcasted by Aljazeera sport channel.
Would be good to see them again promoting roller hockey.
Since the World Cup will be held in Africa for the first time a lot of efforts should be done to introduce our sport in other African countries. This is a unique opportunity to show roller hockey in Africa
I hope CIRH, CERH, and each competition organization can think about this, and copy promoting events as the one from Barça. A sport that has clubs like Benfica, Barcelona, Porto, Liceo, Sport Recife and River Plate should be in other step of development.
Let's hope that soon the responsible entities can change the way of roller hockey!!!

Rolling Together visites RHC Basel
![]() |
| I still don't know how to skate, so I will not be the new star |
Probably some of you doesn't know my name (Ricardo Henriques) and where I come from (Portugal).
For the first time ever roller hockey crossed my professional life. Since some weeks I started to work in Basel, and during these days I'm living in Bed&Breakfast accommodation.
In 1 to 10000 probabilities I am living with a Basel roller hockey player. Isn't it curious??
Thus, I was receiving some lessons of Basel roller hockey history, and also I was talking about international roller hockey with him. Concerning RHC Basel, Rolling Together reported 2 years ago the reappearance of this team.
RHC Basel got in 1985 it unique Swiss championship, being part of that team talent young players, where my host was also part of it. Althouhgt some years after in 1992 a tragic accident caught the team and most of the players got hard injuries. After this, the spirit and physic conditions to play roller hockey went away and the team stopped to play (luckily my host wasn't in that car, and still can play roller hockey).
However in this area of Europe still some important German teams that play roller hockey like Weil-am-Rhein and RHC Friedling kept the passion for this sport alive while Basel didn't have team.

| RHC Basel prepares it final attack to NLA |
Some of you heard about the polemic situation between CERH and RHC Friedling last year: they were Swiss Champion and had the right to play European League, but since they were from Germany, CERH didn't allow such participation (Geneve conquer the right to play). Due to this the main sponsor of the team was very annoyed with CERH and Swiss Federation and gave up from Friedling hockey project.
Nevertheless the people and players from this successful team rise up and reinforced Basel Team. At this moment we can say that Basel has again and after so many years a very strong team prepared to fight for Swiss Championship in some years.
Last Saturday, I went to see the practice and found a very international team with German (some of them from national team), Spanish, French and of course Swiss players. At this moment, they are disputing the NLB/NLA qualifying phase, with Uttingen, Dornbirn and Vordemwald, occupying the 2nd position which gives them the right to play the main Swiss League next year.

| Welcome Back Home Basel |
Until now Basel club had a big difficulty regarding the place to play since they were playing in Friedling rink and some times practicing in Weil-am-Rhein. Happilly recently they received a great news and from now they will start to play in it "Nest", the place were almost all 1985 Champions born to this sport:
Genossenschaft Rollschuh Sport Halle RSH.
I'm sure that playing at home they will get the support from Basel people and probably the young people would gain again, and after a long time, the interest to learn one of the best sports of the World.
The plan for the next matches is already known, and if you live in this area don't loose the opportunity to see the final matches of NLB qualifying championship:
| 25-05-2013 18:00 | RHC Vordemwald |

RSC Uttigen | ||||
| 08-06-2013 17:00 | RHC Basel |

RHC Dornbirn | ||||
I really hope that big cities like Bern and Zurique could have also good teams in NLA soon, and sure more young teams could appear in Swiss hockey...
Discover RHC Basel story was such a good example that we can't give up from our passions and of course wouldn't be possible without such coincidence of living with this "skating family" :)
Now it's time to support Basel my new Roller Hockey team!!

CERH TV - A Dream Coming True
Important agreement signed between Cerh and Dartfish.tv
With this link to the DARTFISH platform, the CERH will be able to launch a new initiative — the CERH TV - that will broadcast, live and via web streaming, all the main European Rink Hockey events. I stress the fact that CERH TV will insure the live transmission of all games of the quarter-finals of the European League, as well as all the Final 4 matches of all European club competitions, in particular, the remale Cup, the CERS Cup and the European league. In addition, can also be displayed on CERH TV all the games of the 11-17 Male European Championship and of the European Women Championship, both of them to be held in September.
To operationalize these productions, the clubs will have to ensure - through an application to give free of charge by CERH — the loading of images of their games on the CERH TV platform, whose videos will be immediately available for viewing by all users, which could make the upload from the entire match or just from its highlits.
The DARTFISH platform could also be made available, under conditions of hiring very favourable, to all the National Federations, which will be able to take advantage of the capacity of this DARTFISH platform to upload and watch videos of the games of their national rink hockey competitions. In this way and through a specific software programme — and the support of very simple applications -preselected images may be used, in the light of the selection criteria that is freely established - for example, the goals scored, the penalties or the direct free hits, the referees disciplinary sanctions, or the most interesting or controversial actions during the game — insuring, that way, the use a very useful tool for the analysis and/or production of specific jobs, to be developed by the technical staff, athletes, referees and its managers, in particular:
- The studies carried out by the coaches, involving technical and tactical aspects of any game, either in collective terms or in individual terms (team analysis and/or players evaluations)
- An assessment from the Referees Committees, concerning the performance shown by the referees during the matches
It is, thus, a revolution in the field of the rink hockey television dissemination, allowing the CERH sustain service levels that are so important and necessary to the support and development of our beloved sport ... Now and in the future!

City Council leaves Papatoetoe RSC from New Zealand without Rink
| One of the last matches at the NZ Roller Hockey Cathedral |
Since 1963 The Papatoetoe Roller Sports Club has been operating in Wallace Road Papatoetoe.
The building is used every night of the week and most weekends, by more than three clubs and the public. The Papatoetoe Roller Sports Club is the most successful Roller Hockey Club in NZ History and also is the current holder of the NZ Club Champions Trophy.
The local community board is going to use the buildings current location as a new road to allow
access to more apartment and housing developments planned in the near future. The Clubs
have not seen any plans and are unaware of the timeline suggested, although they have been
told that the building must come down in May 2013.
With no other participating groups for these community minded sports in the South Auckland
district, the council’s decision to move the groups away from this site makes finding a new
venue extremely hard for all. And to make the blow even harder, they are removing genuine
success from the area.
| Image of the Rink |
The sporting arena has housed many teams and clubs at all levels but the forgotten users are
the all-important kids and families from the local community. They will fare the worst from this decision, as the weekly ritual of going down to the (rink) for a skate, or going to learn to skate classes held on Wednesdays will no longer be available.
For all the thousands of local community users that have access to this building for more than fifty years - not only recreational and competitive skating, but other functions as well – the
question arises “where too from now?”
The Council has not presented any relocation options for the Clubs or offered any financial
assistance, even though the building is owned by the Papatoetoe Roller Sports Club. These
Clubs are now being forced to look outside of their home community as they attempt to find a
suitable facility, which will be a near impossible task given that the building requirement of
more than 40 metres x 30 metres with no internal roof support posts, is a rare construction
indeed.
Papatoetoe Easter Tournament 2013
The Papatoetoe Club will be holding a farewell Tournament at Easter Weekend 2013 and has asked for all those skaters that have skated their or have fond memories of the club to come down and join in on the last weekend. This tournament will be the last at the "old" rink, and will happen from 29th to 31st March. See more details on the Facebook event.
| Invitation for all interested people |
Opinion: It's not the first time that public authorities underrate our sport, but once again even if our sport it's not one of the biggest in the World, it history, tradition and beauty deserve respect.
The World can't be made only by major sports...
Respect for Roller Hockey
