Roller Hockey also present in books

Even in a World dominated by Internet nowadays, Books still have an important place concerning information.
Although there are some books about roller hockey, the situation could be much better. First information is written just in a few languages, and after there are almost any book about technical aspects.
This topic will promote four books:
  • "Campeonatos do Mundo de Hóquei em Patins-Contributos para a História"
  • "Basic Roller Hockey"
  • "ABC Roller Hockey"
  • "Roller Hockey Basic Tactics"
The first one is about history of the sport (in Portuguese), the three after concerns Coaching Manuals (in English), and the last one is about the femalle Chilean World Champions in 2006.

Right way to promote Roller Hockey done in Austria and Israel

Finally after some ideas also gave here on Rolling Together, CERH understood the right way to promote our sport and expand it in different countries than the traditional ones.

Thus, CERH sponsored the "YOUTH CAMP" realized in Villach, Austria, from 30th July to 4th August. As reported by CERH and Mundook website the training camp had the collaboration of the portuguese coach, Luis Duarte. Happily the Camp was a success and soon we would like to see Austria's progress.

Brands and Roller Hockey, two dead ringers

Flyer of Federal RHPL
Everybody knows that to play a sport there are necessary stuff to use...
In the case of Roller Hockey, the most important, that distinguish from other kinds of hockey are the rollers and stick.

Unhappily the brands of Roller Hockey stuff are not so spread by the World as we wish. Another problem to add is the price of all stuff. Roller Hockey is famous to be quite expensive, and one of the reasons is the production of almost all the quads and sticks in Europe, and not in China, like in other sports.

On the next list we can find almost all the brands that produce or sell roller hockey equipment:

Stuff that Roller One offered to Addiction RHC
One of the ideas to help this companies to sell their products in other countries would be the sponsoring roller hockey events/teams/players/federations.
Several examples are available:
  • The Federal Roller Hockey Premier League, that will happen in October in New Delhi, India. Federal is a company from Catalonia, and they are one of the main supporters of the tournament.
  • Roller One (Portuguese brand) is supporting Addiction Roller Hockey Club from India, with stuff, and also French Federation.
  • Reno (Catalan Brand) sponsors Pinamar team (Uruguay), Hockey in Israel and Hockey in Mexico
  • TDV (Portuguese Brand) supports  English Federation and English National Teams.
It's very necessary to have an intensive relation between our sport and their stuff suppliers.
It is simple to conclude that if our sport grows up also the companies will grow, if he die, also the companies will die.

One more time entrepreneur is the base to know what is the better way to do this connection.
If you have ideas or more examples of this connection or other brands that are not presented here feel free to add a comment

52th All Japan Championships

Japan's Team on 2010 B World Cup
Sometimes there are countries which is very difficult to find information about Roller Hockey. One of them is Japan, and the big reason is the language. Just with a big effort using a web translate, it is possible to know more about the activity there. As all the World knows, Japan was affected by a big earthquake and after a tsunami, that destroyed mostly the north part of the country. Like other sports also Roller Hockey suffer a lot with this tragedy.

Concerning the teams, there are no names confirmed yet, but usually Japanese Roller Hockey is based on teams coming from national Universities.

The place of the All Japan will be Nagano Riverfront

On the next link you can watch a brief video of the competition in 2007 at the same place

2011 FIRS Roller Hockey World Cup U-20 has Countries and Schedule

After sometime waiting for the registration of national teams, the final schedule is already announced.
There will be 15 countries disputing the World Cup title, in Barcelos, Portugal:
  1. Angola
  2. Argentina
  3. Austria
  4. Chile
  5. Colombia
  6. England
  7. France
  8. Germany
  9. India
  10. Italy
  11. Portugal
  12. South Africa
  13. Spain
  14. Switzerland
  15. USA

Comparing numbers and also teams presented at the last editions of the Tournament, it's possible to conclude that there were a decreasing of 2 teams from 2009 edition, Uruguay and Netherlands. Furthermore countries like Brazil, Ecuador, Macao, Mexico and New Zealand which played the previous competitions, also will not be in Portugal.

Considering the actual crisis time, it's good to see so many countries, coming from all Continents, but of course that one more country would be excellent to avoid the existence of a group just with 3 countries.
